TOLEDO, Ohio Owens Corning named Sand Dune the 2018 Shingle Color of the Year during a town hall event at its corporate headquarters Wednesday. On hand were Good Bones stars Karen E Laine and Mina Starsiak from HGTV, several Owens Corning executives and hundreds of employees.
The mother-and-daughter team of home renovation experts from Indianapolis known for their use of color as a design element assisted with the winning unveil and shared their perspectives on the power of color when designing home exteriors.
Its no secret that we love using color in and on our homes, Starsiak said. Weve used Owens Corning® shingles in the color Sand Dune on our home office and think the fun and bright color is complementary to multiple palettes. You can put it with almost anything. I cant think of a color you couldnt put it with.
Owens Corning launched the annual roofing color initiative last year to highlight the roof as a design element that expresses a homeowners personal style and contributes to curb appeal.
Last years winner was Sedona Canyon. The cable television stars also worked with Owens Corning on the color initiative last year and were show-floor draws on the first day of the International Roofing Expo in Las Vegas.

Owens Corning announced that Sand Dune has been chosen as the 2018 Shingle Color of the Year.
Owens Corning launched the annual roofing color initiative to highlight the roof as a design element that expresses a homeowners personal style and contributes to curb appeal. Sand Dune was chosen for its versatile medley of hues embedded in the color, and for how it complements a broad range of exteriors to create a sense of relaxed, natural grandeur.
Combining elements of bisque beige and light sky blue with hues of driftwood, charcoal and shale creates a canvas of elegance that enhances todays exterior colors and styles, said Sue Burkett, Owens Corning Roofing Strategic Marketing Manager.
The versatile shingle color has been endorsed by remodeling experts. Home renovator Starsiak shared her perspective on the appeal of Sand Dune. There were 3 recommended color palettes with an additional style board below. My personal favorite was the additional style board that contained the Pantone warm taupe. However, if I were picking a color for the trim on your house I would get a sample made in the same color as your window frames and try it, while I was considering colors.
How Long Do Owens Corning Duration Shingles Last
This will obviously depend on your climate and a few other factors, but in general, these shingles have been engineered for both beauty and toughness. And that durability begins with Owens Corning SureNail technology.
