Story Behind The Hotel Name:
In the early 1800s, settlers would log cypress trees down the creek and use them to make shingles for the roofs of the settlers homes. Thus, the settlers affectionately gave the creek its name Shingle Creek.
One of the first settlements in the region was also called Shingle Creek, which was located east of the Shingle Creek waterway. Shingle Creek itself is recognized as the headwaters of the Florida Everglades.
In 1840, a trading post opened near Shingle Mill at the low water crossing point on Shingle Creek, which is a stones throw away from the hotel. It is Rosen Shingle Creeks intent to pay homage to the old Florida Frontier.

This Orlando golf course receives its name from Shingle Creek, the northernmost headwaters of the famous Everglades that provides the natural backdrop of dense oaks and fauna. Shingle Creeks rich history spans back to early Central Florida settlers and cattle barons who were attracted to the areas local wildlife, abundant fishing and cypress trees, and the creek which provided mobility. During this period of the creeks history, it was primarily used for logging cypress trees. The trees were transported down the waterway to a nearby mill where they were processed into shingles, hence the name Shingle Creek.

Access to the hotel is fairly simple as there is an interchange at Universal Boulevard from SR-528 , just adjacent to the hotel. It will take travelers about 15 20 minutes to get to the hotel from the Orlando International Airport and less than five minutes to get to the Orlando / Orange County Convention Center.

Near The Convention Center Off The 528 Expressway
Located on Universal Boulevard just off of the Beachline 528 Expressway, the Rosen Shingle Creek is not within walking distance to any attractions, but its easy to get around by car or shuttle. The Orange County Convention Center is a five-minute drive from the property. SeaWorld is an eight-minute drive, Universal Studios is a 12-minute drive, and its about 20 minutes to Walt Disney Worlds Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios. The Orlando International Airport is within a 10-minute drive.
