I was diagnosed with shingles 3 weeks ago and started anti viral medication late . This is my first time having shingles. Besides the exhaustion and nerve pain, the location of the rash is under my breast making it so painful to wear a bra which is making me house bound. I want to ask if anyone had a rash in the same area and if there is a way to speed up the healing. I also have some of the rash looking similar to red pimples. When I don’t wear a bra the it is so manageable but when I wear a bra then the discomfort and itchiness is unbearable due to the location of the rash and I have tried every bra including a gauze and no luck due to the location. I cannot get away without a bra due to the size of my bust. I feel so down as I am not sure how long this rash is going to stay and how long am I going to suffer. I remember when I got chicken pox that some of the red pimples never went away and I even still have two of them on my body from my childhood. I am worried if the shingle pimples remain under my breast and how to deal with it. I also don t feel that the doctor understands how unbearable it is for the bra to sit on the rash and I had to insist on a doctor certificate just to not wear a bra and stay at home for at least this week. If youre an older adult and experiencing a blistery rash, the most likely answer is that youve got , a.k.a. herpes zoster, which affects one in three people in their lifetime, according to the CDC. Shingles is whats known as a reactivation virus that usually affects older adults, says Dr. Jones Lopez. Basically, once youve had chickenpox, the varicella zoster virus stays in your body. The key thing that distinguishes the shingles rash is that it doesnt cross the midline. If it spreads across your body, its not shingles. In addition to a rash , you may have some pain, itching, or tingling on your skin. You may also have flu-like symptoms . Like chickenpox, shingles rashes may itchbut they are mostly known for causing pain.

How Long Will The Effects Last

The rash from shingles will heal in 1 to 3 weeks and the pain or irritation will usually go away in 3 to 5 weeks. When shingles occurs on the head or scalp, the symptoms usually go away eventually, but it may take many months.

If the virus damages a nerve, you may have pain, numbness, or tingling for months or even years after the rash is healed. This is called postherpetic neuralgia. This chronic condition is most likely to occur after a shingles outbreak in people over 50 years old. Taking antiviral medicine as soon as the shingles is diagnosed may help prevent this problem.

Stage : Tingling Burning Skin Sensations

The first stage of shingles may be marked by a burning sensation, numbness, or itchiness in the area where the shingles rash appears. This is known as the prodromal period.

Common places for the rash to develop include around the waistline, chest, or back, usually on one side of the body. It may also occur on one side of the scalp, face or neck, or on one arm or leg.

Breast Implants Breastfeeding And Other Causes
